Main Aims/Objectives
The Course of Introduction to Drawing has as general objective the development of the capacities to understand the basic principles of representation. It is intended that the student acquires the basic knowledge of representation: structure, dimensioning, proportionality - and thus be able to graphically represent any type of model that is proposed to him.
Specific Aims/Objectives
In the specific objectives will be developed the basic structural elements of the plastic language: point, line, stain; the light value (light-dark). The theoretical knowledge and the practical realization will be the primordial means to reach the level of knowledge intended.
The drawing will be felt and understood as the first tool of the transmission of thought, reasoning and feeling.
Skills to be acquired
The student should acquire and develop the ability to look, see, observe and represent.
- Analyze the design of shape and structuring geometry: simple or articulated elements;
- To know the drawing process and the fundamentals of representation;
- Know how to use qualifying resources: light and shadow, tone and texture and color theory.
Teaching Procedures
The teaching methodology is based on two main groups: the theory of drawing and the practice of drawing. It will be of great importance the theoretical knowledge of the thinking of great authors, conducive to the materialization of this same thought in the student´s response to the practical realization proposals that are suggested to him.
Programme
The Curricular Unit Program is developed through two distinct but complementary themes. On the one hand, the student will be introduced into the world of observation, fostering the education of vision and awareness of the world around us. On the other hand, it will be called to recognize this same world and to represent it on the basis of the canons established for the representation of the real.
Thus, the semester will be divided into two exercises:
1- representation of diversified models (of natural elements and constructed objects) in the classroom;
2- drawing in the space outside the classroom (University Campus). The student perceives, therefore, that the exercise of drawing is essential to the understanding and representation of the real; whether they are natural or constructed models.
Evaluation Type
The evaluation is continuous and focuses especially on the fulfillment of the proposals of work carried out during the teaching time destined to the Curricular Unit.
The student is required to complete the assignments proposed in the different evaluation moments.
Teaching Resources
- Computers with internet access;
- Specialized bibliography available in UL library;
- Indication of key texts for learning, elements for the elaboration of research works and other information deemed relevant;
- Multimedia material (documentaries, images, etc.);
- Conduct study visits, whenever considered appropriate. (To be done in extra curricular time).
