Main Aims/Objectives
In the continuity of the course of Introduction to Drawing, the general objectives of the course Drawing of Observation is to continue the development of the basic principles of representation to facilitate the expression of ideas through design. The course will have an empirical and experimental character and its contents will lead the student to plan design and space, both inextricably linked to references of two-dimensional and three-dimensional design.
Specific Aims/Objectives
It is intended to continue the trial as a mean of knowledge, fostering continued work habits in the learning process. By assimilating appropriate methods to exercise the design, through analysis, synthesis, analytical categories and the application schemes, the student is asked to insist on graphic experimentation as a mode of knowledge, continuing to develop critical thinking as the basis of all experimentation.
Skills to be acquired
The student should have acquired the observation and representation capabilities. It should also : - Know the proportions of human figure: the classical canons, the whole and the parts, male and female figure.
- Understand that the design is a discipline, an office and a generator scientific system of its own dynamics of operation.
- Understand the drawing as a means of re-creating reality, understanding the difference between the object design and its representation.
Teaching Procedures
The teaching methodology is based on two major groups: the research and design . Through research , buoyed and contextualized in lectures, leads the student to the understanding of Architectural production method of professionals recognized worldwide for his work and contribution to the scientific area in question. The drawing introduces the student in the field of observation, thought, production and architectural representation.
Programme
The Course Program is developed through two distinct themes, but complementary. In the first one, the student will be introduced to the world of observation, encouraging the education of vision and world awareness of what surrounds us. On the other theme, it will be called to recognize the same world and represent it on the basis of established canons for real representation.
Thus, the semester will be divided in two exercises: the first approach for the study of the human figure in terms of proportion and anatomy. They will also be studied classical canons, male and female figure, movement and expression. The second, based on architectural analysis, the student will study the project-geometry, mesh, structure, pace, full and empty, among other constituent elements of the city. The confrontation with the built architecture, land development in the Course of Architecture I ensures and encourages the necessary creative sensibility because it converge important issues such as choosing the best framework, the selection of subjects and the composition of the whole; the size of the design, the situation of horizon lines and earth, the quality and elegance of the stroke, abstraction capacity and the essence of the drawn reason. Both exercises will build a class type that in the drawing mode will follow the progressive approximation scheme to realistic drawing: Esquisso; sketch; Contour; Detail.
Evaluation Type
Assessment is continuous and is governed by the work done during term time for the Course . Monitoring, development and fulfillment of the various stages of evaluation of the exercises and the application of theoretical knowledge thereof, are coupled with the delivery of elements in the assessment.
