Main Aims/Objectives
Provide the students ability to use the projective geometry as a representation system, which allows to shift from the three spatial dimensions to the two drawing dimensions and vice versa.
Development of the ability for abstraction.
Development of logical-deductive capabilities, especially those related to the perception and representation of shapes and objects in space.
Specific Aims/Objectives
Give the students the ability to discriminate the systems of representation that derive from the cylindrical projection (orthogonal or oblique) and the central projection.
Skills to be acquired
Capacity of perception and representation of shapes, real or imagined, in the spatial context.
Acknowledgment by the students of the role and effectiveness of each one of the representation systems in Descriptive Geometry. Ability to choose the most convenient system of representation, depending on the intended purpose: formal exploration, space exploration or the architectural representation of objects.
Teaching Procedures
Often, the imparted knowledge will be applied to real problems, being these practical exercises the privileged base for experimentation and validation of theoretical knowledge.
Programme
LINEAR PERSPECTIVE
Principles. Central projections.
«perspetógrafo»
Representation of the basic elements: point line and plan.
Intersections.
Parallelism.
Perpendicularity.
Rotation of plans around fixed axis.
Perspective methods
Inclination’s direction with the perspective board.
Inclination’s circumference and measurement´s circumference of a line.
Circumference and measuring points.
Tracing of shades.
Evaluation Type
The assessment methodology results from the application of the «General Regulation of Knowledge of the University». The assessment consists, mainly, in graphical tests, Frequency and Exam proofs, carried through for the effect, in complementarily with tests of continuous assessment, in a minimum of two.
Teaching Resources
The teaching material used in class will be relatively small, with the aim of encouraging the capacity for abstraction and spatial visualization of the students. Resources will consist primarily in drawings executed in the blackboard. In addition, occasionally, it will be used projected images designed in computer, and ultimately the recourse to models.
