Main Aims/Objectives
The opportunity and advantage of articulating the Territory with the City and, necessarily, with the Architecture, define the main general aims/objectives:
- Highlight the importance of cities in the civilizational process.
- Specify some key concepts for decoding urban space and their territorial dynamics.
- Reflect on the new urban forms in the metropolitan territory.
Specific Aims/Objectives
Understand the importance of architecture in the shape of the city, above all, in the context of its elementary structure "built" versus "not built", in order to interpret / criticize the different city models in the current context of the vast metropolitan city.
Skills to be acquired
It is intended that the student develops his critical capacity, distancing himself from common sense. From the identification, characterization and interpretation of urban phenomena, elements or facts, construct a critical view of today city sprawl.
Teaching Procedures
Theoric classes follow a communication strategy that promotes learning, discussion, criticism and synthesis elaboration, based on the presentation / analysis of theoric views of very specific authors and concrete examples (based on texts, images, videos, cartography and schemes) that enhances the relationship between architecture, the city and the territory.
