Main Aims/Objectives
Focusing on the understanding of urbanism, which is currently understood as the disciplinary area that studies the city, its transformation and its urban design, it is intended to provide the student with theoretical knowledge underlying the origin and formation of cities, aiming at their evolutionary understanding until the present time.
Specific Aims/Objectives
It is intended that the student understands the processes related to the formal identity of cities and, respectively, their consequent phenomenology. It is also intended that the student recognizes in the urban elements (fabric, layout, mesh, square, street, block, plot, singular building and common building) fundamental resources in any context of intervention in the territory, especially in the context of the architectural project.
Skills to be acquired
The student should understand urbanism in the historical, social, architectural and formal contexts. It should also distinguish between tracing and mesh drawings, their formation and theoretical affiliation. You should acquire skills that allow you to know how to integrate urbanism in a current and multidisciplinary context, especially in the context of the process associated with the architectural project.
Teaching Procedures
The practical classes follow a communication strategy that encourages learning, discussion, criticism and the elaboration of schematic syntheses, starting from the presentation of examples (texts, images, cartography and diagrammatic schemes).
