Main Aims/Objectives

To allow the students understanding in a critical manner the main concepts in constitutional law.
To understand the constitution as state and society’s basis of legal order.

Specific Aims/Objectives

To understand the constitution as a meeting place between politics and law.
To facilitate the knowledge of basic constitutional regimes.
To face the constitution as the source of political power and the locus of fundamental rights.

Skills to be acquired

The ability to distinguish and order normative acts.
The ability to defend civil rights endangered by public or private activity.
To be able to apply constitutional law to issues resulting from sovereign activity.

Teaching Procedures

Theoretical classes: briefing on the different program subjects, opened to student participation.
Practical classes: case study and hypothetical situation analysis on main contents.
Tutorial classes: learning support, theoretical debate and research incentive; oral evaluation.

Chapter VIII - The fundamental rights (and duties)
Chapter IX - The "economic constitution" and "financial constitution"
Chapter X - Political power organization
Chapter XI - The Constitution and Law sources
Chapter XII - Situations constitutional exception
Chapter XIII - Constitutionality review (and legality strengthened)
Chapter XIV - The revision of the Constitution.

Evaluation Type

There will be a permanent evaluation of student knowledge progression in tutorial classes, according to general attendance and participation, two tests and an oral presentation.
