Main Aims/Objectives
The course is an introduction to international relations theories, consisting in a historical presentation of the evolution of the discipline and the various debates among its major approaches.

Theoretical knowledge is not an end in itself: it provides rigorous frameworks likely to contribute to a better, that is, critical understanding of current trends and events in world politics.
Skills to be acquired
At the end of the semester, each student should be familiar with the main theories and concepts used in the discipline, their strengths and limitations
Teaching Procedures
Classes are interactive, encouraging oral intervention to the students on the program themes of the course, as well as conducting group discussions, reflection on case studies and practical problems.

Evaluation Type
The system evaluation is carried out according to the rules defined in the General Regulations Assessment of Knowledge Universities Lusiada. In this sense, it is taken into account continuous assessment, including attendance, participation, completion of work, quizzes, etc..
Teaching Resources
In classes are used the audiovisual and website provided by University, in particular, through the use of projectors, data show, television and video.
