Main Aims/Objectives
To understand the specificity of social sciences by comparison with the other sciences;
To know concepts, theories and researches that familirize the students with the interpretation of the social reality;
To recognize the importance of social factors to understand the social behaviour.
Specific Aims/Objectives
To understand and to identify the specific perspectives of different social sciences;
To understand and to question the processes of rupture between scientific knowledge and common sense;
To understand the epistemological importance of interdisciplinarity in social analysis;
To know and to use concepts of the social sciences in the interpretation of social phenomenon;
To know the general procedures of an investigation.
Skills to be acquired
To acquire an analytical and reflective stance on social reality;
To be able to use concepts and theories in the analises of the social reality.
To break with prejudices and preconceptions about the understanding of the social reality and human behavior.
Teaching Procedures
Lectures by faculty;
Debate classes on the basis of issues, texts, films and others sources supplied by the teacher;
Monitoring and supporting the development of assignments.
Programme
1. Social Sciences - a particular form of knowledge of the social:
1.1. Scientific knowledge and common sense: the process of rupture, abstraction and construction;
1.2. Scientific content of the Social Sciences;
1.3. The issue of objectivity and subjectivity in the social sciences;
1.4. Social facts, social regularities and the identification of the social reality.
2. Theoretical and methodological approaches of the social sciences: general considerations;
2.1. Examples of scientific studies illustrative of the development of research and theoretical construction in the social sciences.
3. Observation and analysis of social facts:
3.1. General notions about research in Social Sciences.
4. Some fundamental concepts and problems of the social sciences to the psychology
4.1. culture, socialization, social roles, societies and social changes;
4.2. individual and collective;
4.3. gender and sexuality;
4.4. family and social changes;
4.5. family and work;
4.6. aging, health and disease;
4.7. normativity and deviation.

Continuous assessment:
- two tests of continuous assessment;
- individual and or group assignments.
