Main Aims/Objectives

In psychology of development the main aim is to promote basic knowledge about developmental processes throughout the life span.
It is also intended to facilitate knowledge acquisition about theoretical and empirical studies related to developmental processes that occur at different development stages, namely in childhood and adolescence.

Specific Aims/Objectives

(1) Acquire basic knowledge of the main human development models
(2) Understand psychological functioning patterns in childhood and adolescence and highlight adaptive developmental tasks implications for human well being
(3) develop basic observation and research skills in childhood and adolescence.

Skills to be acquired

1. Understand the general purposes of developmental psychology - life span approach - in order to identify problems, methodologies and theoretical resources.
2. Identify developmental characteristics and patterns of psychological typical functioning in childhood and adolescence.
3. Mobilize explanatory theories for understanding developmental processes in childhood and adolescence.
4. Analyze how different contexts interfere in the development process.
