To understand the construct of personality and related constructs;
To understand the historical, paradigmatic, and disciplinary evolution of the study of personality;
To understand the main approaches and methods of study of personality;

Teaching Procedures
The teaching methodology will combine expositive, demonstrative and participative methodologies. The curricular contents will be explored using oral exposition, data-show, role-play, case analysis, and monitoring of the process of developing the case analysis by each student.
Programme
1.Introduction to the study of personality: concepts and constructs. Historical evolution of the study of personality; Personality structure, processes and functions;
2.Approaches to the study of personality: from the broad models of psychological development to the specific models of personality; from the idiographic to the nomotetic approaches;
3.Determinants of personality: contributions from behavioral genetics, molecular biology, neuroanatomical circuitries, psychological processes; context influences (from family to culture)
4.Models of personality: lexical, biological, socio-cognitive, and integrative models;
5.Personality development: stability and change, differentiation and maturity; linearity and non-linearity;
6.Personality and psychosocial functioning (personality and psychopathology; wellbeing; health/disease; longevity; death; education; occupational and wealth outcomes; performance;
Evaluation Type
Evaluation will consist of one individual work, and of 2 writing tests during the semester. Each student will be invited to develop a case analysis, by conceptualizing the individual’s (the study case) functioning accordingly to 3 different personality models.
