Main Aims/Objectives

The O.D. is the continuation of the I.D. from the 1st semester and maintains the same theoretic and practical approach once the student is expected to understand, use and apply the theoretic knowledge into the practice through the exercises required on the different themes. Through the life drawing and the exterior drawing it will continue the development /growth of space and form analysis to endow the student for the necessary skills for its representation.

Specific Aims/Objectives

It also continues to develop the capacity in structuring form for a better and greater control and ability of drawing and to motivate a bigger perception of the whole and the parts relation.
To promote drawing as a graphic language that allows visual and creative communication of ideas and the interpretation of reality. To arouse discussions of ideas bringing up the sharing and the critical spirit once drawing is also a way of reflection.

Skills to be acquired

The student should be able to observe/see and interpret the reality through drawing. To develop drawing as a process of seeing/observation, as a record and communication tool considering the structural elements and its possible transformations relatively forms properties and finally, taking on consideration the framing concepts.
Capacity of exploring different materials and supports in order to manage a visual a creative communication.

Teaching Procedures

Projection of images related to the theoretical concepts. Use and application of the theoretical knowledge into the practice through exercises required. Work statement and its presentation so it arouses debate, bring up the sharing of ideas and, finally, stimulates self-criticism analysis. Visits to exhibitions and participation on conferences related to the program contents.

Programme

The Program Content of Introduction of the Observation Drawing is divided on different theoretical themes and its practical application through exercises required during time lessons and out-time.
On the theoretical approach:
To understand drawing as a visual language.
Line characteristic: thickness, undertone, gesture, intensity.
Linear- perspective.
Spatiality characteristics.
The shadows gradations on the third dimension simulation.
The forms properties.
The bidimensional/tridimensional relation, plans shapes and forms with volume.
The main optical conditions of the visual dynamics.
Composition studies.
On the practical approach:
Different techniques on drawing exercises such as graphite, charcoal, color pencil, pen, etc.
Observation drawing exercises: Life-drawing and Still-drawing and urban Drawing.
Sketches, gestural and expressive drawings.

Evaluation Type

The methodology consists on a continuous evaluation of the theoritical application through exercises required during the lessons time. The evaluation also takes into account the accomplishment of other work required, the deadline compliance, creativity, the oral and written participation and finally, the attendance/assiduity.
