Main Aims/Objectives

Introduce the student to different aspects of the use of CAD 3D software in their components for design and graphical representation.

Specific Aims/Objectives

Detailed study of the use of professional CAD software - AutoCad.
Introduction to the use of professional CAD software - SolidWorks.

Skills to be acquired

Ability to execute design projects in digital format including:
i) the creation of 3D models with AutoCad 3D;
ii) the creation of 3D models with SolidWorks.

Teaching Procedures

2 hours theoretical and practical classes with display / demonstration of the principles and methodologies of software operations.
During the semester students will run two tests of practical application that will allow the teacher to continuous evaluation.

Programme

CAD 3D (AutoCAD)
- 3D Systems-axis coordinates, the axis of user systems. - Define Views and Windows ("Viewport").
- 3D modeling space and paper space ("Paper Space").
- Generation of solid models and their issue:
i) basic primitives: blocks, Cylinders, Sphers, Wedge, etc..
ii) Creation of more complex shapes by extrusion or rotation of "polylines"
ii) Boolean operations, Addition, Subtraction, Cut. Cutting plans
- Editing 3D Solids.
Display modes: Wire-frame, hidden lines, render and shade.

CAD 3D (SolidWorks)

Evaluation Type

Two practical tests of continuous assessment (weight 50%) and final test (weight 50%).

CAD Software - AutoCad - for personal computers.
CAD Software - SolidWorks - for personal computers.
Learning system "hands on" in the preparation of the work offered to students throughout the year.
