Main Aims/Objectives
The course unit on Design II seeks to promote the skills and knowledge that structure the research process, with a special emphasis on Design Project methodologies and applied in the following general areas: 1. Communication Design, 2. Editorial Design, 3. Product Design, 4. Exhibition Design and Strategy..
The CU will foster critical thinking about methodological choices tailored to each particular Design Projects.
Specific Aims/Objectives
-To provide a framework for academic discussion and personal development enabling speculation on new approaches to the problems entailed by design in different areas: 1. Communication Design, 2. Editorial Design, 3. Product Design, 4. Exhibition Design and Strategy.
-To foster and develop critical thinking in understanding historical, theoretical, ethical and professional contexts;
-To develop knowledge and tailored methods permitting the planning, proposal, research and development of original, academically rigorous projects.
Skills to be acquired
-To define, locate and contextualize a research project;
-to formulate the problems and questions it raises;
-to apply research methodologies in formulating ideas;
-to specify the state of the art and case studies;
-to get involved in the critical reflection on their own project;
-to circumscribe the scope of research to an adequate level of detail;
to present Design Projects and a rigorously planned research and methodologies.
