Main Aims/Objectives

- To deepen the different areas of design: product; craftdesign, interiors; expository; and, games;
- Develop capacities and knowledge structuring the research process;
- Stimulating the critical sense, ability to observe and act on the methodologies;
- Encourage and promote student participation in the real market and in society.

Specific Aims/Objectives

- Raise awareness of the importance and mastery of interior design;
- Implement the relationship between the graphic and product design with the interiors/environments design;
- To deepen the critical thinking in the understanding of different contexts of the society: historical, theoretical, ethical and professional;
- Stimulate the use of layout as an essential tool for project promotion;
- Promote the entrepreneurial and participatory spirit.

Skills to be acquired

- Formulate emerging issues and questions;
- Delimit the scope of the research to an adequate level of detail;
- Apply correctly the research methodologies in the formulation of concepts and ideas;
- state of the art and case studies;
- Engage in the critical reflection of own project;
- Present design projects through well-planned resources.

Teaching Procedures

1. Classes Theoretical / Practical:
- Exposure and demonstration of content through various resources;
- Comparative and reflexive analyzes based on reference projects (case studies);
- Experimentation and practical application of contents using different proposals;
2. Tutorial Guidance:
- Follow-up and orientation of students´ work.

Programme

In the 3rd year of the degree in design the theme proposed as the aggregator of the different UC is "design: emotion and sensoriality". In this context, the syllabus contents will be articulated with the evaluation proposals, which include four competitions, two quick exercises, study visits and open classes alluding to the specifics of each theme:

- Differentiation of private space and social space;
- Troubleshooting spatial problems;
- Functioning and optimization of existing resources;
- Physical, psychological factors;
- Functional, Aesthetic and Production Characteristics;
- Maquetization;
- Technical drawings, quotations and 3D modeling;
- Planning, techniques and production costs.

2. Exercise of contemporary design competition using traditional techniques

3. Project of product design in interior design: ceramic or sanitary

- Narrative in design: creation of content, development of stories, characters, levels / states, tools;
- Strategies, interaction design, creation of experiences;
- The game: game economics, game balance, aesthetics, immersion, game rules and how to explain them, requirements and skills, information available, usability testing.
- Cultural and social implications;
- Physical, psychological, sociological and anthropological factors of the games;

- Maquetization;
- Technical drawings, quotations and 3D modeling;
- Planning, techniques and production costs.

Finally, it should be noted that all the aforementioned themes will be developed in parallel with the following resources: critical analysis of examples; project methodologies; descriptive design memories; and means of embodiment/layout.

Evaluation Type
