Main Aims/Objectives

To know how to conceive and design for digital environments.

Specific Aims/Objectives

To know how create a personal visual style using digital tools.
To know how to communicate expressively with the help of digital tools.

Skills to be acquired

At the end of the semester the students will be able to:
Understand the proprieties of the elements in a digital environment.
Know how to express themselves creatively in a digital environment.
Work with digital tools and use them to create a personal aesthetic.
Know how to use the computer as a means of creative expression.

Teaching Procedures

The teaching will have a theoretical part, where will be used the expositive and the interrogative methods, and a practical part, where will be used the demonstrative and the active methods.

Programme

Introduction to the creative possibilities of digital illustration.
The pixel and the screen resolution.
Compositional techniques.
Digital colour.
Tools for digital drawing.
Manipulation of the elements in vectorial or bitmap composition.
Introduction to digital painting. Introduction to vectorial digital drawing.
Introduction to the creative possibilities of computational art in design projects.

Evaluation Type

The students will be evaluated, throughout the semester, by the result of two written tests and the practical exercises done in the classroom. Participation, assiduity, interest, ability to surpass the problems, knowing how to work with the software programs, originality, ability to communicate an idea and the quality of the design are other relevant elements that will assess the students capacities.
