Main Aims/Objectives

- To develop the ability of listening, reading and comprehension of English texts on marketing.
- To boost oral expression.

Specific Aims/Objectives

- To understand a written and audio text in technical English;
- To consolidate the writing of technical English texts;
- To widen the vocabulary in marketing;
- To be able to pitch a project in English.

Skills to be acquired

The four language skills to be acquired are:

- reading (proper accent,rhythm and fluidity);
- writing (orthographic, grammatical and syntactic accuracy, expanded vocabulary, coherence and cohesion);
- listening (ability to interpret multiple oral discourses, for example an audio file or a video);
- speaking (fluency, ability to have a conversation).

Teaching Procedures

The teaching of this curricular unit privileges the interactive method and encourages relevant inputs from the students, through research topics, oral presentations and group work. The classes will follow a theoretical and practical pattern and will mostly deal with reading and discussing concepts, topics and texts within the contents that are being explored.

Evaluation Type

The continuous assessment methodology is for students who attend all classes. It privileges the following elements:
- commitment, dedication, assiduity, punctuality, relevant participation, research skills and ability to organize information; individual and group exercises; “role-play” exercises (10%)
- two evaluation tests (30%+30%)
- oral presentation (30%)
