Main Aims/Objectives

The aim of this unit course is to give a deep understanding of innovation management processes.

Specific Aims/Objectives

At the end of the course unit the Learner is expected to be able to understand the processes of innovation management integrating data on new technologies, new markets/segments and organisation.
The learner is expected to understand critical factors for the success of the development of new products and services.

Skills to be acquired

Students should acquire the following skills: knowledge about processes of innovation management and competencies of analysis and decision making.

Teaching Procedures

The classes of this course unit will comprehend the explanation of theoretical concepts and the analysis and discussion of case studies.

I - Innovation and the socio-economic development.
The problems and solutions for innovation in the European Union.

II - Market and technology: strategic variables of innovation.
The new consumers and the new technologies.

III - The options for innovation strategy.

IV - NPD - phases and critical factors for success.

V - NSD - New services development. Phases and critical factors for sucess.

VI - NIPD - New Industrial Process Development: Phases and critical factors for sucess.

Evaluation Type

The assessment is based on two written tests and the participation in class, namely contribution to case studies analysis.
