Main Aims/Objectives

To understanding the causes of criminal behavior, the reasons for which individuals commit crime and the factors associated with criminal behavior.
To know models and strategies for intervention and treatment, aiming at rehabilitation and integration of the offender in the society.

Specific Aims/Objectives

To know and understand the definition of object and scope of activity of clinical criminology.
To understand the concept of crime, deviance and antisocial conduct.
Knowing the biological, psychological and sociological approaches to crime.
To understand models of intervention / rehabilitation of offenders.
To understand the notions underlying analysis / understanding, prognosis and treatment of offenders.
To know and apply models and strategies for intervention and rehabilitation in different types of crime

Skills to be acquired

To understand the genesis, evolution and maintenance of criminal behavior.
To know and apply different models of treatment / rehabilitation.
To assess, diagnose and identify intervention needs in different types of offenders.
To know and apply strategies appropriate to interventional treatment needs and risk level of different types of offender.

- Clinical Criminology: Definition and object of clinical criminology. Theoretical approaches to clinical criminology
- Crime, deviance and antisocial behaviors: genesis, evolution and maintenance of criminal behavior. Biological, psychological and sociological factors.
- Treatment and rehabilitation models: Model Risk-Needs-Responsivity. Model "Good Lives"
- Treatment and Rehabilitation: criminological assessment /diagnosis. Treatment needs. Criminological prognosis. Criminological treatment. Evaluation of treatment.
Deviant behaviors and clinical criminology: evaluation, prognosis, treatment and evaluation of treatment. Homicide. Domestic violence and abuse. Sex crimes. Juvenile delinquency. Crimes against property. Economic crimes.
