Main Aims/Objectives

- To provide students with a general and introductory perspective of the scientific field of Victimology;
- To focus the emergence of victimology as an area of scientific knowledge and its relation to criminology;
- To reflect about the role of the victim in the crime and about the main theories of victimization.

Specific Aims/Objectives

- To know and integrate the historical and theoretical development of Victimology:
- To know the main theories of victimization;
- To know the different research methods in victimology;
- To reflect about the role of the victim as an object of study and knowledge, as well as a rights’ figure.

Skills to be acquired

- To understand and integrate the various approaches related to victimology;
- To develop a critical and sustained perspective about the issues of victimization.
