Main Aims/Objectives

Given the specific criminologist function, namely, as an analyst of the forensic context and criminal, this course aims through educational and scientific training, transmit advanced knowledge on how to address the procedural actors in terms of professional strategies.

Specific Aims/Objectives

The most appropriate way to carry out these steps through the respect of the functions that the criminologist plays and carries out in any of the procedural steps, always having as background "technique, art and science" of the criminal investigation.

Skills to be acquired

From the presentation of matters relating to subjects such as Criminal Investigation, Psychology, Law, Criminology and Forensic Science, will be broadcast knowledge capable of allowing the student to the formulation of procedures in terms of the crime of the study, to be able to understand about what happens, what is done, who can do what and when ´it´ in terms not only skill, but also the expert´s presence at any procedural stage.

Teaching Procedures

1. Theoretical Component:
According to the syllabus, students will be assessed as a result of the study and analysis of the historical coordinates of Criminology and Forensic Psychology; shapes and current problems of the criminal investigation; methodologies and criminal profiling techniques in the crime scene approach; profiles and theoretical methodological research in various areas of crime.
2. Practical Component: Case Studies Analysis.

Programme

The organs of social control, formal and informal, and the anonymous general public, have been demanding more and more, better and higher contribution in terms of participation of psychologists, as forensic and criminal experts. This is a correct requirement, aimed at contributing to a full clarification of the facts by the expert reports within the specialization in Criminology. The key to avoiding technical slip in evidence presentation seat requires meticulous preparation, prior practice. Hence our interest in contributing to improve the technical-face performance. A trained and sensitized expert for sudden changes of human nature, following the technical and scientific development in this area, promote reports and explanations that will be a guarantee of success in terms of Criminology, but not least, Forensic Psychology, in correspondence with Criminal Investigation.
To achieve this aim we will cover, among others, the following materials: Forensic Criminology and Psychology; Criminal Investigation and Forensic Psychology; psicocriminais profiles: theory and practice, through deductive and inductive methods; case assessment; Reconstruction and reconstitution of the crime scene from the triple formulation: organized, disorganized and mixed; Dynamics of the race; staged Sites; False reports; Modus operandi and signature; psychological autopsy and victimology; The court and the ethics of forensic expert and criminal.

Evaluation Type

1. Continuous assessment applied on the basis of "knowing how to be ´and´ know-how ´of the student in class, careful monitoring of your progress (integration of ideas, concepts and content, relevance of the conclusions and personal investment and creativity).
2. Periodic evaluation written in two stages (60%, for superior decision).
3. Evaluation / frequency final written (40%, for superior decision).
