Main Aims/Objectives

1. To know the contributions of the development perspective of psychopathology for the evaluation and
classification of the psychological disorders that appear in childhood and adolescence,
2. Identify and evaluate the impact of risk and protection factors in the emergence of psychopathology,
3. To explore the implications of the diagnostic process for intervention in school settings.

Specific Aims/Objectives

1. To know the defining concepts and structuring models of the psychopathology of development, 2. To know the contributions of the development perspective of psychopathology for the evaluation and Classification of psychological disorders, 3. Identify and evaluate the impact of risk and protection factors in the emergence of psychopathology, 4. To explore the implications of the diagnostic process for intervention in school settings.

Programme


1.Introduction to Developmental Psychopathology: 1.1. The importance of ecological-transactional models in the conceptualization of psychopathology in childhood and adolescence, 1.2. Relations between development and psychopathology, 1.3. Concepts and structuring models. 2. Developmental course, characterization and classification of the main disturbances susceptible to diagnose in childhood and adolescence: 2.1. Mood disorders, 2.2. Anxiety disorders, 2.3. Attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder, 2.4. Oppositional defiant disorder and behavior disturbance, 2.5. Elimination disturbances, 2.6. Other issues that may require signaling in a school setting (i.e. peer relationship problems, risk factors associated with parenting, maltreatment).

Evaluation Type

According to RGACC the evaluation integrates two modalities: continuous and final. Continuous assessment, which is compulsory for approval in the Course Unit, requires: - 70% attendance of classes, - drawing up a report based on a case fictionalized by the teachers. The final evaluation consists of an examination of the contents of the program explored during the semester. Weighting: Continuous assessment - 60%; Final evaluation - 40%
