Main Aims/Objectives

The aim of the course Introduction to Digital Technologies is to provide the student autonomous capacity to select and use the tools most appropriate to manipulation, modification, creation, representation and presentation of pictures or projects.

Specific Aims/Objectives

Different perspective and organize content for the presentation of a project / work of architecture. Contribute to the use of different software. Allow the use of software computer-aided design (AutoCAD) 2D in its aspects.
Contribute to the implementation of basic multimedia presentations.

Skills to be acquired

Manipulate and understand the importance of new technologies for the formation of the Architect. Knowing how to use programs (Autocad, Photoshop, and others). Boosting productivity and organization of content. Provide the students with autonomy in solving problems.

Teaching Procedures

Classes supported by the theoretical framework selected bibliography. In practical classes are presented and demonstrated the features and methodologies of different software. Students are accompanied by teachers in the development of practical exercises.

Programme

Using Autocad, referencing only the essential elements for representing two-dimensional drawings. 1.Representação 2D 1.1 Introduction to Autocad. 2.1 coordinate systems. 1.3 Design entities - Line, Arc, Circle, Ellipse, among others. 1.4 Issue of entities - Move, Copy, Flip, Cut, Climb. Duplicate objects by Array. 1.5 Use of "layers", definition of stroke types and thicknesses. 1.6 Creating and editing entity text. 1.7 Control of plotters and printers.

Evaluation Type

Two practical tests of continuous assessment (weight 40%) and final test (weight 60%).

Teaching Resources

Using the video projector to show students the essential concepts and application examples. Students will solve exercises and to develop practical work to enable them to develop their ability to use computer applications in an autonomous way.

Sustainability Objectives

Integrating computational tools with ecological awareness, focusing on resource optimization, energy efficiency, and performance simulation from the early stages of the project (BIM, CAD, simulation). These objectives promote the reduction of environmental impacts and the development of critical thinking about the life cycle of materials and buildings.
