Main Aims/Objectives

- The program. of Introduction to the Theory of Architecture, inserted into the undergraduate curriculum given in this educational institution, in different disciplinary approaches, but complementary, converging to the problem of architectural discipline broadly distinct atmospheres. The overall objectives of the discipline are to introduce the students in the universe of Theoretical Architecture, methodologies and languages and subsequent forms of expressions.

Specific Aims/Objectives

- Be able to work a concept / project idea and its graphic representation, discussion of the concept design as envisioned by the operative instrument of research (comparing and validation). Be able to construct it structurally and a singular episteme establishing a methodology to express the theory.

Skills to be acquired

- Be able to imagine, write and perform. Be able to ´discuss´ theoretically and graphically, approaching more the prospect of reading the theoretical universe (as vital complement to the Project) in a personal perspective of the architecture.

- Theoretical Lectures, with occasional production of individual written reflections and critical reviews on selected works.

Evaluation Type

- Preparation of a theoretical paper, the topic of which will be chosen jointly by the lecturer and the students. Two mid-term tests will be held each semester, covering the theoretical contents studied. A course assessment test and a final examination will take place in accordance with the evaluation regulations currently in force at the University. Attendance and participation in classes will also be taken into consideration.
