Main Aims/Objectives
To teach the knowledge and basic concepts of environment, sustainability, environmental impact and ecology. To raise students´ awareness for the judicious and demanding use of systems and processes to reduce environmental impact, integrating decision support systems during the design phase, capable of exponentially increasing their creativity and freedom of expression.
Specific Aims/Objectives
To prepare students for the adoption of planning options that configure sustainable constructive solutions in the architectural design, equipping them with the knowledge to choose the best design solutions, taking into account the lower environmental impact of architecture and urbanism.
Skills to be acquired
From the learning process, it is intended that the student acquires skills for the application of the acquired knowledge in the methodological tasks of the architectural process, in order to contribute as an actor of the built environment qualification, either in the architectural interior space, in the surrounding urban public space or in landscapes and territories of wider scope.
Teaching Procedures
The theoretical-practical classes, follow a communication strategy that should encourages learning, discussion, debate, critique and elaboration of schematic summaries, based on the presentation of examples (texts, conceptual diagrams, images, cartography).
