Main Aims/Objectives

Analyze and think over the profound changes, current social processes and problems in the world.
Give the students tools and sources of information, so that each student can draw their own conclusions.

Specific Aims/Objectives

Familiarize the students with the dynamics of transformation and appropriation of the territory.
Highlighting the rural-urban dichotomy, students should be aware of the great contrasts that exist in our country, regarding population, settlement, economic activities, transport and mobility - knowledge that is essential in the activity of planning and town design.

Skills to be acquired

The intention is, above all, that students develop and perfect their critical ability and the need to understand social phenomena, since the architect and the urban planner, in the performance of their activities, are called to identify and interpret the constant changes occurring in the territory and in the society.

Teaching Procedures

Using images and texts of different authors (it seems essential to us the plurality of points of view, due to the complexity and comprehensiveness of the questions). We will try to stimulate the critical thinking, the discussion and the elaboration of syntheses between Human Geography, Architecture and Town planning.
