Main Aims/Objectives

1. Transmit to Students organized knowledge about Portuguese and European Economy, with a focus on real convergence, in the long run, of the Portuguese economy compared to the European one.
2. Use concepts acquired in previously taught courses, giving consistency to previous knowledge and proving your interest in preparing for the future.

Specific Aims/Objectives

1. Acquisition of a critical spirit to analyze the Portuguese and European economy, operating with development scenarios, in view of options that lead to situations of sustainability.
2. Construction of analytical capacity, scientifically supported, of the growth and development strategies of the Portuguese and European Economy.
3. Develop students´ work autonomy through directed research and investigation.

Skills to be acquired

1. Develop scientific analysis skills.
2. Acquire knowledge of Portuguese Contemporary Economic History, namely macro-economic strategies from 1950 to the present, subject to a critical analysis, scientifically supported.
3. Develop students´ work autonomy through directed research and investigation.

Teaching Procedures

Expositive classes.
Interactive classes to discuss the themes of contemporary Portuguese and European economic history in different periods, subordinated to the domain of scientific instruments of analysis.
Research on national and international databases, aiming to analyze the political-economic-social profile of different times and economies.
