Main Aims/Objectives

Through the Curricular Unit of Health Economics, it is intended to broaden the range of knowledge acquired throughout the course, through the application and articulation of economic concepts acquired in the specific area of health.

Specific Aims/Objectives

It is intended to provide students with a set of specific economic tools that allow them to understand, in general terms, the specificities of the health sector and the importance of this sector in economic terms.

Skills to be acquired

At the end of the course, the student should be able to use basic principles and instruments of economic analysis to critically assess the health sector and understand the functioning of the health sector and its specificities, as well as, identify the problems inherent to such sector and possible solutions.

Teaching Procedures

In theoretical classes the exposed material is always accompanied by an illustration showing real cases. The tutorial classes are designed to clarify questions and do some exercises about the issues taught in the theoretical classes.
