Main Aims/Objectives

Conceived as Art, but studied essentially as Science, the Politics occupies essentially of the Power. To understand the Power, not only in the plan of the existing rules for the dispute that on it if verifies, but also to perceive that groups, for pressure or persuasion, can condition or until modifying the choices of the citizens, is the objective of this discipline.

Specific Aims/Objectives

- To understand the distinction of concepts as NATION, PEOPLE, POPULATION and CITIZENSHIP;
- To understand the STATE, in its various ways, and the SOVEREIGNTY idea in its traditional context, and in the light of the current European and international conjuncture;
-To distinguish the Form from the Power, the Headquarters of the Power, as estimated of agreement of the difference between the formal Democracy and the real Democracy;
-To know the principles of the Political Participation , as well as the rules of its application.

Skills to be acquired

The learning offered for this discipline allows to the students the attainment of knowledge on the way as if it processes the activity politics in the State, taking them to know it who it decides and which the possessed legitimacy for the taking of decisions. The transmitted formation will endow the pupils wants in the preparation for the study of other substances in the scope of the international relations, the law, sociology and the economy, it still wants for a solid preparation in the active exercise of its citizenship.

Teaching Procedures

The education of this disciplines understands: - Theoretician-Practical lessons, for the transmission of contents and exemplificação of related concrete situations with these contents; - lessons of Tutorial Orientation in view of helping to the students to one correcta bibliographical research and one correcto agreement of the boarded substances.
