Main Aims/Objectives

The course aims a global understanding of modern international law, its origin and evolution. Main subjects are the articulation of international law with municipal law, the different sources of international law and its subjects.

Specific Aims/Objectives

Technical understand of international law sources, as basic tool for a lawyer.
Having in mind the large sprectrum of international legal issues, the selection was made insisting on the ones that seems essential at a general level, leaving all the others to further specific courses.

Skills to be acquired

Ability to use concepts and international rules.
Ability to interpret and apply international legal tools, specially treaties and international case law.

Teaching Procedures

The international law course as a theoretical component (in general classes, where main issues are presented) and a practical and tutorial component (in smaller classes, where teachers follow the students progression on reading, analysis of main materials, and working on hypothetical situations.

Evaluation Type

According to university rules continuous assessment is based on two tests. Quizes may be used - on a voluntary basis - at the end of each main parts of the discipline.
