Main Aims/Objectives
This curricular unit aims to provide students with the necessary tools for them to view diplomacy as a fundamental subject in the current framework of international economic and political relations.
The Diplomacy curricular unit is intended to present students with a general picture of the role of diplomacy in contemporary international relations, in order to understand the importance of diplomacy as a peaceful instrument of foreign policy of the states.
Specific Aims/Objectives
The program is designed to provide students with specific knowledge in the field of diplomacy and will provide students with the necessary methodologies to face and explain international phenomena and understand the functions of contemporary diplomacy.
The aim is to show the evolution of diplomacy from an economic perspective and the most important concepts within this approach such as internationalization and competitiveness towards globalization.

The curricular unit aims to provide an introductory knowledge of diplomacy as well as economic diplomacy.
A theoretical knowledge of diplomacy in general and its evolution will be provided and a practical application will be made of the various definitions of diplomacy emphasizing its importance in the context of political and economic current affairs, as well as their relevance to the affirmation of Portugal in Europe and in the world.
Teaching Procedures
Own learning methodology based on participatory classes, personal interventions, oral and written, and group discussions, reflection on concrete cases of international relations in order to develop their capacity for analysis, work together to develop their communication skills and persuasion; assignment of texts available to students in the moodle.

Evaluation Type
The evaluation system is carried out according to the rules defined in Lusíada Universities
General Regulations for Knowledge Evaluation. In this sense, is taken into account the
continuous assessment, including attendance, participation, achievement of works, mini-tests,
among others.
