Main Aims/Objectives

This curricular unit is intended to give to Interior Design students the opportunity to apply concepts previously studied through the analysis and discussion of case-study material selection and manufacturing processes.

Specific Aims/Objectives

Present and sensitize students to the correct selection of materials and technologies, in greater depth the polymeric, according to their properties.

Skills to be acquired

Identification of service specifications;
Identification of parameters to compare the materials;
Pre-selection of materials, iterative procedure with the choice of manufacturing technology; Use information sheets and selection of materials and processes software.

Teaching Procedures

The methodology to be applied is based on the theoretical and practical nature of the discipline, increasing theoretical contents through the lecture method, and the realization of monitored project exercises, guided by the teacher. The demonstrative and active method plan to promote practical discipline and direct contact between the teacher and the student, giving particular attention to design and development tasks/jobs.

Programme

1. Technical attributes, aesthetic and eco attributes of metal alloys, polymers, ceramic, woods, and composite materials;
2. Characterization of each type of material A brief definition of each type of material Design Notes
- Typical Uses
