Main Aims/Objectives
1. To teach how to model complex 3D forms.
2. To teach how to render 3D solid models (introductory level).
Specific Aims/Objectives
1. To teach how to model with surfaces.
2. To teach how to work with surfaces and 3D solid models.
3. To teach advanced assembly features.
4. To teach how to animate movement of parts.
5. To teach how to create exploded views.
6. To teach how to apply materials, lights and backgrounds.
Skills to be acquired
At the end of the semester, the students should be able to:
1. Model using surfaces.
2. Draw with 3D sketches.
3. Use advanced assembly features.
4. Animate movement of parts.
5. Present exploded views.
6. Apply materials, lights and backgrounds to 3D models.
7. Render 3D solid models.
8. Create objects in 3D models for Design projects.
Teaching Procedures
The classes will be subdivided in a theoretical part, where it will be used the expositive method, and in a practical part, where it will be used the demonstrative and the active methods.
Programme
1. Drawing using 3D sketches.
2. Modeling with surfaces. Features and tools. Conversion of surface models in 3D solid models.
3. Modeling with solids.
4. Applying materiais, lights and backgrounds to 3D models. Rendering.
5. Advanced assembly features. Restricting movements of parts.
6. Applying movement animation to 3D solid models.
7. Creating exploded views.
Evaluation Type
During the semester the students will be assessed by two tests, in accordance with the Assessment Regulation of Universidade Lusíada. Each of these tests will be divided in two components: one written and one practical.
