Main Aims/Objectives

1. To teach how to create digital spaces for design projects.
2. To teach how to transmit emotions and atmospheres em digital environments.
3. To maximize experimentation and conceptual thought.

Specific Aims/Objectives

1. To teach how to create and model 3D digital spaces.
2. To teach how to work with camera, light, materials, colo rand effects to communicate ideas and impressions.
3. To teach how to frame 3D space in 2D images.

Skills to be acquired

At the end of the semester the students should be able to:

1. Create and model digital spaces for Design projects.
2. Position and work with cameras and lights.
3. Use space framing to transmit ideas and impressions.
4. Communicate atmospheres in digital environments with lights, materials and color.

Teaching Procedures

The teaching will have a theoretical part, where will be used the expositive and the interrogative methods, and a practical part, where will be used the demonstrative and the active methods.

Programme

1. Creating and modeling 3D digital spaces and environments. Object / space relations. Spacial scale. Filled areas / empty areas.

2. Working with cameras.
2.1 Framing. Depth of field. Exposition.

3. Space Lightning.
3.1 Applying lights. Types of light. Exterior and interior light. Shadows. Reflections and refractions. Color. Using HDR images.

4. Rendering.

Evaluation Type

During the semester the students will be assessed by two tests, in accordance with the Assessment Regulation of Universidade Lusíada. Each of these tests will be divided in two components: one written and one practical.
