Main Aims/Objectives

i. Provide a comprehensive understanding of the various forms of victimization, focusing on child and youth violence, violence in intimate relationships and intergenerational violence.
ii. Develop critical skills to analyze the biological, psychological and social factors that contribute to different types of violence.
iii. Promote the understanding and application of prevention, intervention and support strategies for victims in the contemporary context.

Specific Aims/Objectives

i. Identify and define the different forms of violence against children and young people.
ii. Understand the dynamics of power and control present in violent intimate relationships.
iii. Define and exemplify intergenerational violence, including elder abuse and intergenerational transmission of violent behaviors.
iv. Analyze the physical, emotional and social impacts of violence,
v. Explore preventive and intervention approaches to mitigate violence.

Skills to be acquired

i. Develop the ability to critically analyze different forms of violence and their impacts on victims.
ii. Acquire skills in scientific research applied to victimology, including the ability to collect, interpret and present data.
iii. Improve oral and written communication skills to discuss and disseminate knowledge about victimology.

Teaching Procedures

Two written tests and a final exam to assess understanding of theoretical and historical concepts.
