Main Aims/Objectives
i. Provide a comprehensive understanding of the intersections between sex, gender, identity and criminology.
ii. Develop critical skills to analyze violence against women and children, as well as female crime, from different theoretical and empirical perspectives.
iii. Promote the understanding and application of knowledge about justice policies and specific interventions in the context of gender and crime.
Specific Aims/Objectives
i. Understand sexual differences and their representation in crime statistics.
ii. Analyze how ideologies of femininity and masculinity influence criminalization.
iii. Assess the impact of biological realism on justice and prison policies
Skills to be acquired
i. Acquire scientific research skills applied to gender studies and criminology, including the collection of empirical data analysis.
ii. Develop critical analysis skills on different forms of crime and their implications for women, children and transgender people.
iii. Improve communication skills, both written and oral, to present arguments and analyzes on gender and crime topics.
Teaching Procedures
i. Expository Classes: For the introduction of fundamental concepts and historical contextualization.
ii. Case Studies: Analysis of real cases for practical application of theoretical concepts.
iii. Debates and Discussions: Debate sessions to encourage criticism and reflection on the topics covered

Evaluation Type
Two written tests and a final exam to assess understanding of theoretical and historical concepts.
