Main Aims/Objectives

To promote the direct contact of the student with his area of expertise;
To deepen the knowledge and the acquisition of professional skills necessary for his future employability, under pedagogical supervision.

Specific Aims/Objectives

To develop personal and relational skills to a successful adaptation to the context of the internship;
To promote the autonomy, making the transition from the student role to the criminologist role;
To articulate and to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in academic training to supervised practice.

Skills to be acquired

To provide students with internships that allow professional experience contact;
To promote the interconnection of theoretical and practical issues addressed throughout the course.
To apply the knowledge acquired during the degree to real situations.

Teaching Procedures

a) Theoretical-practical classes; b) Interaction with the student in order to promote the theoretical-practical orientation of the work being carried out; c) Moodle: contents, summaries, news, among other elements that will be made available on the course page.

Programme

Curricular traineeships conducted in professional context;
During the first week of the semester, the teacher, together with students, identifies and addresses the need of host institutions for the traineeships

1. Presentation of the traineeship regulation;
2. Students integration in the traineeship context;
3. Development of a traineeship plan;
4. Definition of intern functions;
5. The characteristics of the traineeship context and its dynamics;
6. Ethical and deontological issues in the practice of criminology;
7. Characterization of the traineeship phases: Observation, practice and supervision;
8. Presentation, analysis and discussion of activities and practical cases;
9. Application, limitations and strengths of criminological practice;
10. Development of a traineeship report: Report goals; structure; writing process; reflection about the traineeship experience.

Evaluation Type

a) Written traineeship report, prepared and delivered up to one week after the end of the traineeship (20%);
b) Report/traineeship mentor evaluation about the practical performance of the intern in the professional context (20%);
c) Presentation and public defence of the report in an oral exam (60%).
