Main Aims/Objectives

The internship aims to allow direct contact of the stud.with his area of expertise, the deepening of knowledge
and the acq.of professional skills necessary for his future employability, under clinical and pedagogical
supervision of their mentor and supervisor.

Specific Aims/Objectives

1. Develop personal and relational resources for the successful adaptation to the context of the internship
2.Perform more autonomously in a progressive way during the internship, making the transition from the
student role for the psychologist role
3.Articulate and apply knowledge and skills acquired in academic training to supervised clinical practice

Skills to be acquired

4.Perform evaluation, consultation and psychological intervention competently as well as summaries and
reports of clinical cases
5.Be aware of scientific research results and integrate them into the supervised clinical practice
6.Perform according to the ethical code, recognizing the social and ethical implications of their actions.

Teaching Procedures

The internship presupposes an initially observational learning phase that will evolve gradually
into a more autonomous practice. The student observes the psychologist´s work as well as the institutional
dynamics, integrate the team meetings and guidance sessions with the mentor of the institution. On this basis
the student develops more autonomously their tasks, under supervision in regular meetings with the supervisor
to discuss clinical cases, relevant scientific papers, conduct role-playing activities and elaborate the final
report.

Programme

1.Context?s characteristics and its dynamics;
2.Participation in team meetings and orientation/supervision sessions with the institutional mentor/supervisor;
3. Psychological Assessment:
-Diagnosis;
-Selection and administration of assessment tools;
-Preparation of case summaries;
-Preparation of psychological assessment reports.
4.Psychological Intervention:
-observation of therapeutic sessions;
-establishment and monitoring of therapeutic relationships;
-Case formulations;
-Definition of therapeutic goals;
-Selection and implementation of therapeutic strategies;
-Assessment of the intervention results
5.Ethical and issues in clinical practice;
6.Writing of the global internship report:
-objectives of the report;
-structure;
-process of writing;
-systematic reflection about the internship experience.

Evaluation Type

Results from the grade given by the university supervisor (20%) together with the mentor in the
internship (20%), taking into account the student´s performance in their tasks as well as in the supervisory
meetings (0-20); averaged with the grade given to written global internship report, submitted to oral exam (60%).
The student must achieve a minimum of 10 in each of the grades to get approval.
