Main Aims/Objectives
- Promote the acquisition of skills in relation to the different research methodologies in Design;
- Promote the understanding of theoretical and practical content, through reading and discussing content related to the different research methods and techniques with a view to understanding their applicability;
- Provide students with arguments that allow them to strengthen their critical and analytical thinking.
Specific Aims/Objectives
- Promote the ability to develop a scientific text, as well as to organize the planning of the dissertation;
- Provide students with tools and knowledge that allow them to produce scientific knowledge in the area of ??Design;
- Prepare students to choose and apply the most relevant methodologies for their research.
Skills to be acquired
- Identify and distinguish the main research methodologies;
- Select a methodology and build a work plan;
- Autonomy in the preparation of scientific articles and organization of the dissertation.
Teaching Procedures
Classes will be theoretical and practical, and different topics related to the program content will be presented, with a view to promoting discussion between students and teachers. There will also be work proposals, with a view to consolidating the content taught.

Evaluation Type
Assessment to be carried out in accordance with the General Regulations for the 2nd Cycles of Studies Leading to a Master´s Degree at Universidade Lusíada.
The Continuous Assessment criteria for the Methodology subject focus on: class participation, analysis and critique of the content presented, creativity, work autonomy, debate, reading, interpretation and commentary on relevant texts and audiovisual resources.
Written work + oral discussion (TE): 60%
Final exam (EF): 40%
Teaching Resources
- Lectures supported by audiovisual resources;
- Presentation of online content;
- Supporting bibliography (texts, reference websites, monographs, etc.);
- Colloquia and study visits.
Sustainability Objectives
The content taught will be aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the UN. Given the variation in the topics of future investigations, students will be encouraged to develop critical thinking and select which objectives to respond to.
