Main Aims/Objectives

The discipline of Building Systems has the fundamental objective to deepen the study and understanding of mutual and reciprocal implications between architectural form and construction systems that structure and support. This course gives special relevance to current systems (with which students have more contact in professional practice), not forgetting the research considered more experimental systems.

Specific Aims/Objectives

Deepen understanding of the reason for the constructive architectural forms, both traditional and contemporary:
- Deepen understanding of the current building systems;
- Deepen the understanding of the detail design systems;

Skills to be acquired

- Understanding and representation, both two-dimensional and three-dimensional media, nexuses of coherence between architectural form and the various building systems that materialize.
- Detail the Domain residential building, especially the representation of constructive cut and constructive detail.

Teaching Procedures

The work is developed through the articulation of theoretical and practical moments.
In the lectures will be given exercises to do, introduced the topics and information necessary for the progress of the work, as well as periodically made presentations and results of discussion. In practical classes the exercises will be implemented and executed, presented, analyzed, criticized and discussed, in groups or individually, the progress of work.

Evaluation Type

By the very nature of the discipline, the evaluation will be continuous and permanent. In this sense, they will be taken into account attendance, class participation, regularity and continuity of work, the answer to face problems and challenges launched. also consist of continuous assessment to conduct two written tests / delivery jobs, according to the school calendar. They are still fulfilled the fundamental moments of established evaluation: Frequency Test and Final Exam.

Teaching Resources

To achieve the required objectives and competencies, it is to resort to the following educational resources:
- Computers;
- Specialized bibliography and available in media center and library of the University Lusíada;
- Indication of fundamental texts for learning and development of research;
- Multimedia material (documentaries, images, etc.).
