Main Aims/Objectives

Study strategy and its implications. Develop skills in the field of International Security. Study theories of different authors and research different epistemological and methodological perspectives on this field of knowledge.

Specific Aims/Objectives

Analyze Strategy theories. Develop studies in the field of Security and Conflict Resolution. Instill in students, through the empirical framework, the necessary critical spirit supporting their scientific research.

Skills to be acquired

Acquiring knowledge and skills about Strategy and International Security. Encourage students´ scientific training and a taste for scientific research.

Teaching Procedures

Oral presentations in theoretical-practical classes. Tutorial guidance on the main points of the syllabus, using audiovisual skills and additional supporting documentation whenever necessary. Active student participation is encouraged.

4. International Security Studies based on International Relations Paradigms (Realism, Idealism/Liberalism and Marxism).

Evaluation Type

The assessment system is carried out in accordance with the rules defined in the Lusiada Universities General Regulations for the Assessment of Knowledge and the Rules on the Assessment of Knowledge relating to the 1st year of the 2nd Cycle of Studies leading to a Master´s Degree. Evaluation throw-out the semester is recommended.
