Main Aims/Objectives

Contribute to the analysis and interpretation of the role of the most relevant international political organizations in the contemporary international system, incorporating the necessary framework and historical perspective on their genesis and evolution.

Specific Aims/Objectives

- Ability to carry out a critical analysis of international institutions and organizations as important actors in international politics, representing a diversity of areas of specialization and action.
- Understanding its origin, development, relevance and current mission within the framework of interdependencies between different international actors and community interests.

Skills to be acquired

Identify the main world political decision-making bodies as geopolitical structures that influence the balance of power in the international community.
Know the functioning of various international institutions and organizations, demonstrating the ability to reflect on their influence on the international system, particularly on the capacity to transform the globalized world.

Teaching Procedures

The teaching methodology is in line with the learning objectives of the curricular unit given that the expository methodology makes it possible to present and explain the various concepts and their respective historical context, and its practical applications require the apprehension of the knowledge exposed as well as development and evaluation of your academic abilities and skills as a specialist in international relations.

Evaluation Type

The assessment can be carried out through:
- Development and presentation of a work on part of the subject.
- Theoretical tests to assess knowledge.
- Participation in class discussing recommended texts on the subject.

Teaching Resources

Theoretical-practical classes, where the exposition of the contents will be presented using the bibliography indicated and related to the subject matter of the classes. Although the theoretical component predominates in this discipline, practical classes may be centered on the analysis and discussion of texts, as well as other documentary sources, carrying out exercises to apply the knowledge transmitted and the development of individual work.
