Main Aims/Objectives
1.To acquire an informed understanding of African governance and political movements 2. To better understand concepts and ideas in political science and African studies in comparative perspective.
Specific Aims/Objectives
1. To examine regularities and patterns of political behavior in Africa. 2. To analyze and evaluate external influences on African political conditions 3. To articulate the basic ideas of sustainable development and good governance 4. To appreciate the challenges of democratic consolidation in Africa
Skills to be acquired
1. Development of the student´s analytical thinking capabilities through comparison and contrast in the application of theories and concepts to social and political problems. 2. Increased student awareness of cultural and multi-cultural issues through study of how political and social problems and social movements are related.
Teaching Procedures
Own learning methodology based on participatory classes: personal interventions, oral and written, and group discussions, work in teams to develop their communication skills and persuasion; assignment of texts available to students in e-learning.

Evaluation Type
The evaluation system is carried out according to the rules defined in the General Regulations Assessment of Knowledge of the Lusíada Universities. In this sense, it is taken into account continuous assessment, namely participation, completion of work, quizzes, etc.
Teaching Resources
In classes are used audiovisual media and computer provided by the University, in particular, through the use of retroprojector, data show,TV and video.
