Main Aims/Objectives
Develop knowledge about Portuguese and European Economic History in recent decades based on macroeconomic models that are decisive in political decision-making.
It is intended that students acquire fundamental knowledge regarding the evolution of the Portuguese economy, taking into account its insertion in the European context, as well as analyzing and understanding the challenges of European integration, whose impact has extended beyond the economic sphere.
Specific Aims/Objectives
Specifically, it is intended to convey to students the main events and constraints that have characterized the path taken by the Portuguese economy over the last few decades, evaluating the Economic Policies that allowed and allow the Portuguese economy to face certain national and international challenges, contributing for its Economic Growth.
Skills to be acquired
At the end of the semester, students should be able to understand and critically discuss the main events and challenges of the Portuguese economy, in particular, in the European context, and propose possible solutions to face the problems. Understand the consequences of certain national and international actions/policies in the Portuguese economic context.
Teaching Procedures
In Theoretical-Practical classes (TP) the exposed material is accompanied by an example based on real cases. The Tutorial Orientation classes are intended for the clarification of doubts and the practical discussion of the issues taught in the TP classes. Students will be given appropriate readings within the scope of the Course Bibliography as a way of complementing the contents transmitted in class.
