Main Aims/Objectives
To understand the specificities of the disciplines of clinical psychology and health psychology;
To define the applications of clinical psychology and health psychology;
To describe the relationships and complementarities between health psychology and clinical psychology;
To characterize behavioral change in health and clinical context as a multifactorial phenomena;
To understand the main approaches to behavioral change;
Specific Aims/Objectives
To understand the concepts of health, disease and disorder;
To understand the main health paradigms;
To understand behavioral change in clinical and health contexts;
To understand human functioning and behavioral change from a holistic (biopsychosocial) perspective;
To understand the dynamics among the main components involved in behavioral change;
To know the main models of stages of behavioral change
Skills to be acquired
Understanding competences of the commonalities and specificities of clinical and health psychology
Understanding skills of human functioning in holistic terms;
Competence of functional analysis of conditions and behaviors that deserve clinical attention and health behaviors
Identification competence of the components involved in behavioral change in clinical and health contexts
Competence to perform functional analysis of functioning from a biopsychosocial perspective
Teaching Procedures
The teaching methodologies combine expository methods by the teacher and participatory dynamics, such as exposing doubts and demonstrating the integration of knowledge by students.

Part I - Introduction to Clinical Psychology and Health Psychology;
I.1. Concepts of health, disease and disturbance;
I.2. Paradigms and conceptions of health and disease: from determinism to proactivity; from
treatment to prevention and health promotion; from dichotomy mind-body to the Biopsychosocial model; from deficits to positive functioning, skills and well-being;
I.3. Factors, principles and outcomes of behavioral organization: risk factors and
protection; principles of multifinality and equifinality; trajectories of vulnerability and
resilience;
I.4. Modalities of Intervention in Clinical and Health Psychology: from Caplan model to
Gordon´s model.
Part II - From linear behavioral change models to multilevel models and by
stages
Multilevel Theories of Behavior Change
II.1. Prochaska Transtheoretical Model of Change,
II.2. Model of rational action, planned behavior and integrated behavioral model;

Evaluation Type
The assessment consists of a written work, carried out in groups. There will also be 2 components of individual assessment: 1) the theoretical framework of group work, will be carried out individually by each student in the group and will have an individual quote; 2) one mini-test with questions about the syllabus to be done with limited time .
Mandatory presence in 70% of classes.
